Chaffee County Clerk and Recorder Home

The County Clerk and Recorder is responsible for issuing and recording marriage licenses, recording all real estate transactions, issuing liquor licenses, registering voters, conducting all primary, general and county elections and when contracted municipal, school and special districts elections, clerk to the Board and titling and licensing motor vehicles.

Each of these Clerk’s responsibilities has a department  located in the County Clerk’s Office.

The Recording Department is responsible for processing documents presented for recording as public record. All recorded documents are open to the public. Copies or certified copies are available for a fee.

You may sign up and pay by credit card for our online search service at .  The charge per day is $25.00 and the per print charge is 25 cents.
Marriage Licenses are also issued in this department.

The Clerk to the Board is responsible for recording and maintaining the minutes of the Board of County Commissioners Meetings, Special Meetings and the Board of Equalization Meetings.

The Election Department  is responsible for all election functions from registering a voter to tabulating the votes.  You may register to vote or check your voter record at

The Motor Vehicle Department  acts as an agent for the Colorado Department of Revenue in titling and licensing motor vehicles. All motor vehicle fees and requirements are set by Colorado State Statute or by rules and regulations promulgated by the Department of Revenue.

Each of these departments within the County Clerk’s Office provide a variety of services for the citizens of Chaffee County.
